Some locations are, at first, accessible only via long, winding paths up and through cliff sides and tunnels. Ash Canyon features steep terrain and plateaus like Hushed River Valley and offers few man-made shelters, many of which have been severely damaged similar to Pleasant Valley.Ī defining feature of the Canyon is its challenging terrain, which can quickly sap the player's energy or cause injury. However the player must have the latter item equipped in an accessory slot to take advantage of the benefits. The backpack allows the player to carry more weight, and the the crampons help with the region's numerous rope climbs and navigating steep hills. However, despite the challenging environment, both the new items make exploring Ash Canyon and other regions with similar terrain much easier. But, unlike other mines, this one contains pools of shallow, stagnant, freezing water, as well as a waterfall that the player must cross to obtain the loot.

Both items are located near a frozen corpse inside the Gold Mineat the northwest corner of Ash Canyon. Two new pieces of gear are unique to Ash Canyon: the crampons and technical backpack not to be confused with the moose-hide satchel. Access from Timberwolf Mountain is granted at two locations: the eastern end of Echo Ravine's basin, which connects directly to Bitter Marshand a transition cave at Deer Clearingwhich connects to Pillar's Footrest. The region itself can be disorienting, as it features many twisting paths at multiple elevations-from the swampy canyon floor to the highest peaks. Visiting Ash Canyon requires traveling to the far side of Timberwolf Mountainmaking the region difficult to access. It was first announced in along with the Halloween event and subsequent Challenge : Escape the Darkwalker.Ī variety of bridges both artificial and natural connect highland areas together. Ash Canyon is a region released on December 7th,in the Hesitant Prospect update.
